This month we have been talking about Texas and the Rodeo. Yee-haw! We are exposing the children to all things Texas!
Reading/Vocabulary: We have been learning all about cowboys and the animals in the Rodeo. We have talked about horses, sheep, bulls, long horns, and pigs. We have discussed cowboy gear as well; boots, hats, lasso, spurs, chaps, etc. We have been reading a book called, Cowboy Roy.
Math: We have been working very hard counting and making patterns with our rodeo animals. We have been practicing counting in sets up to 10. ie. give me 10 rodeo animals. Give me 5 horses, give me 6 sheep etc. We have also been creating ABAB and ABC patterns with our Rodeo vocabulary as well. ie. horse, pig, horse, pig.... both with play animals and with paper cut outs.
Art/Fine Motor: We have been working on lots of art projects that involve different textures. Fluffy sheep, glittery boots, pointy cactus etc.
Tips: Explore different materials with your child this month. Try something new. Can you paint with pudding? Can you draw in the sand box with your fingers?
